Pakistan Railways Upgrades Awam Express and Khyber Mail for Modern Travel
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways announces significant upgrades to two of its major passenger trains, Awam Express and Khyber Mail, aimed at modernizing railway services and enhancing passenger experience. Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi revealed this initiative during a session of the National Assembly on Friday, stating that the upgrades for Awam Express, which operates from Peshawar, will commence on November 2, 2026.
Minister Abbasi emphasized the government’s commitment to improving railway infrastructure, which has been a longstanding issue in the country. The upgrades are expected to include modern amenities, better seating arrangements, and improved safety measures, making train travel more comfortable and reliable for passengers.
This modernization effort is part of a broader strategy to revitalize Pakistan’s railway system, which has faced criticism for outdated facilities and inefficiencies. Enhancing the quality of train services could potentially increase ridership, stimulate economic activity, and provide a more sustainable transportation option for the public.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Railways plans to roll out additional upgrades across other train services in the coming years. Stakeholders are optimistic that these improvements will not only enhance passenger satisfaction but also attract investment in the railway sector.
