Pakistan Sees Rising Foreign Investment Interest, Says Finance Minister Aurangzeb

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb announced that the Pakistani government is implementing measures to attract increased international investment, particularly in sectors such as mining, technology, agriculture, and energy. Speaking to members of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) on Thursday, Aurangzeb highlighted the growing interest from foreign investors, including Turkish stakeholders in the privatization of electricity distribution companies.

He emphasized that while there is a notable uptick in foreign investment interest, particularly from Saudi Arabia and other international players, such investments require time to materialize. Aurangzeb stressed the importance of policy continuity, effective facilitation, and a conducive investment ecosystem to foster this growth.

The Finance Minister pointed out that sustainable economic growth in Pakistan must be driven by the private sector, with the government committed to creating a favorable business environment and robust policy framework. He noted that the economy is recovering from previous challenges, indicating a positive trajectory for future investments.

Looking ahead, Aurangzeb reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the investment climate, suggesting that ongoing dialogues with international investors will continue to shape Pakistan’s economic landscape. He urged stakeholders to remain patient as the government works towards establishing a more stable and attractive investment framework.
