Parties Opposing Counter-Terror Drive Risk Political Isolation: PM Aide

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a stern warning to political factions resisting the state’s renewed counter-terrorism initiatives, asserting that entities refusing to back national security operations risk being politically sidelined. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah declared that national survival and peace take absolute precedence over partisan agendas, cautioning that political forces refusing to support the fight against terrorism will effectively become politically irrelevant.

Addressing reporters in the federal capital, the senior aide emphasized that the nation’s armed forces and law enforcement personnel are rendering immense sacrifices on daily basis to wipe out militancy. He asserted that democratic stability and parliamentary governance can only endure if the writ of the state is unequivocally established across every district. Sanaullah stressed that opposition parties must demonstrate institutional maturity rather than leveraging national security matters for petty political leverage, warning that obstinate defiance would trigger public and political rejection.

The blunt remarks follow vocal reservations raised by opposition parties, particularly the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), regarding the execution of comprehensive counter-terrorism initiatives under the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam framework in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Analysts observe that the government’s stance underscores a firm civil-military resolve to prosecute an uncompromising, intelligence-driven campaign against banned outfits, signaling that security considerations will override parliamentary polarization.

The federal administration plans to hold additional parliamentary consultations and institutional briefings in the coming weeks to build consensus around the revitalized National Action Plan. State authorities reiterate that sustainable economic recovery and the safety of strategic foreign investments remain inseparable from eradicating terrorism across the country.
