RAWALPINDI: In a proactive measure to enhance security, the local police have established eight special pickets at strategic locations to safeguard the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) base in Rawalpindi. This initiative comes in response to heightened security concerns and aims to ensure the safety of vital military installations.

The police have deployed a dedicated picket at Azad Patan, staffed by 40 officers under the command of a Superintendent of Police (SP). This unit is tasked with overseeing operations and maintaining a visible security presence to deter potential threats. Officers are organized into two shifts, ensuring continuous coverage, while a reserve team equipped with anti-riot gear remains on standby at the nearby Kahuta police station.

The eight pickets, established on Saturday, are strategically located at Khokhar Road, Chaklala Stand, Chhtari Chowk, Shaheen Chowk, TNT Chowk, TM Chowk, GPO Chowk, and Hali Road. This comprehensive security plan includes mobile patrols from Chaklala, Sadiqabad, and Waris Khan police stations, further bolstering the protection around the Nur Khan PAF Base.

As the situation develops, police officials are expected to monitor the effectiveness of these measures and adjust their strategies accordingly. The establishment of these pickets reflects a broader commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining order in the region.
