Power Division Projects Rs2.56 Per Unit Increase in November Electricity Bills
ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has announced a projected increase of Rs2.56 per unit in electricity bills for November, attributed to fuel cost adjustments (FCA) for September. This rise is primarily due to the reliance on expensive fuel sources for electricity generation.
The increase is expected to generate approximately Rs33 billion for the Power Division. In a statement, officials noted that without targeted load shedding measures, the FCA could have escalated by as much as Rs3.44 per unit. The Ministry of Energy emphasized that timely interventions, including load management, played a crucial role in mitigating the potential hike.
This adjustment comes amid rising international fuel prices and ongoing constraints in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies, which have put additional pressure on the energy sector. The Power Division highlighted that their proactive measures, including targeted load management for two to two-and-a-half hours during September, helped limit the impact of costly fuels on consumers.
Looking ahead, the Power Division is expected to continue monitoring fuel prices and implementing strategies to manage costs effectively. Consumers are advised to prepare for the upcoming adjustments while the government seeks to stabilize the energy market amidst fluctuating global prices.
