PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Opposes New Provinces Discussion
KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is expressing significant concern over ongoing discussions regarding the creation of new provinces or administrative units. Speaking at an event in Karachi on Tuesday, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari firmly stated that decisions about Sindh’s future should remain within the province, asserting, “No one outside Sindh could decide its future. So we should now put a full stop to this conversation as well.”
Bhutto-Zardari emphasized that the people of Sindh and their elected representatives have already made their stance clear on this issue, referencing a resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly in early September that opposed any division of the province.
This statement comes amid rising tensions regarding provincial autonomy and governance, highlighting the PPP’s commitment to maintaining Sindh’s integrity. The party’s position reflects broader concerns about regional representation and the potential implications of restructuring that could affect local governance and resource allocation.
Looking ahead, the PPP is expected to continue advocating for Sindh’s interests in upcoming legislative sessions, while discussions on provincial restructuring are likely to persist among various political factions. The party’s leadership may also engage in dialogues with other stakeholders to reinforce their stance against any changes to Sindh’s administrative boundaries.
