PPP Highlights Peace and Anti-Corruption as Core Malakand Challenges
SWAT: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday identified restoring durable peace, reinforcing the rule of law, and eliminating widespread corruption as the most critical governance challenges facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Malakand division. Speaking at an authoritative press conference at the Swat Press Club, newly appointed PPP Provincial Information Secretary Dr Haider Ali Khan stressed that addressing the deep-seated grievances of Swat and its neighboring districts remains an urgent political priority for the party leadership.
Accompanied by senior district office-bearers, including PPP Swat District President Saleem Khan, Akhtar Hussain, Shamshir Ali Advocate, Shehryar Amir Zeb, and Dunya Zeb, Dr Haider expressed gratitude to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for bestowing organizational trust upon him. He pledged to fulfill the leadership’s expectations by effectively conveying party policy to the masses while raising a strong voice against official negligence, emphasizing that security, employment, and regional prosperity are basic constitutional rights of every citizen.
Elaborating on the prevailing socio-political conditions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PPP information secretary asserted that the province is enduring an extraordinary situation requiring immediate administrative intervention. Touching upon ongoing debates regarding high-level constitutional interventions, Dr Haider noted that measures such as governor’s rule or emergency declarations represent legitimate constitutional options available to restore order and stabilize governance when provincial setups fail to deliver safety and public justice.
Moving forward, the party announced plans to launch targeted public outreach campaigns across the Malakand division to mobilize local support and demand structural governance reforms. PPP leaders reiterated that the party would actively pressure the provincial executive to deliver tangible development projects, rebuild local infrastructure, and guarantee long-term security across Swat and adjacent districts.
