PPP Leaders Demand Accountability for PTI’s Corrupt Governance in KP
BAJAUR: Local leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have condemned the 13-year rule of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, labeling it as the most corrupt period in the province’s history. During a press conference held at the Bajaur Press Club in Khar on Thursday, they called for stringent accountability measures against former PTI ministers and lawmakers.
PPP district general secretary Shakeel Khan Utmankhel, along with senior party figures including Haji Sher Bahadur, Shahabuddin, Mian Samiullah Jan, Haider Ali Shah, and Abdullah Advocate, expressed their support for the recent imposition of emergency and governor’s rule. They argued that these measures are crucial for restoring law and order and enhancing governance in the province.
The party leaders emphasized that while the PPP champions democratic governance, the PTI’s misguided policies and prolonged confrontations with the federal government, particularly regarding counter-terrorism efforts, necessitated extraordinary measures to prevent further crises for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Looking ahead, the PPP plans to intensify its calls for accountability and transparency in governance, urging the provincial administration to take decisive action against corruption. The party aims to engage with civil society and other political entities to foster a collaborative approach towards restoring integrity in the province’s governance.
