Prisoners to be Transferred from Adiala to Islamabad Model Jail, Says Mohsin Naqvi

ISLAMABAD: The government has announced plans to transfer prisoners from Adiala Jail to the Islamabad Model Jail, according to Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab. This decision aims to enhance the management of inmates and improve prison conditions.

Naqvi emphasized the need for reform in the prison system during a recent press briefing. He stated that the transfer is part of broader efforts to modernize facilities and ensure better rehabilitation opportunities for inmates. The move is expected to take place within the next few weeks, pending logistical arrangements.

This transfer is significant as it reflects the government’s commitment to addressing longstanding issues within the penal system, which has faced criticism for overcrowding and inadequate facilities. Improved conditions in the Islamabad Model Jail could lead to better outcomes for rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into society.

Looking ahead, officials are set to finalize the logistics of the transfer and assess the current capacity of the Islamabad Model Jail. Further announcements regarding additional reforms in the prison system are anticipated in the coming months.
