PTCL Group Reports Rs4.7 Billion Profit Amid Rising Revenues

ISLAMABAD: PTCL Group has announced a net profit of Rs4.7 billion for the July-September 2026 period, with revenues surpassing Rs304 billion. This significant financial achievement reflects a robust performance across its three entities: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd, the merged telecom company Ufone and Telenor, and U Microfinance Bank (Ubank).

In a statement released on Thursday, PTCL Chief Executive Officer Nadeem Khan highlighted a remarkable 343% increase in net profit, which reached Rs3 billion. Khan attributed this growth to strategic initiatives and operational efficiencies, despite facing challenges such as high electricity costs and inflationary pressures that have impacted the telecom sector.

The mobile business, which includes the newly merged telecom company, experienced a 139% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year, with an operating profit of Rs33.5 billion. Khan emphasized the need for the government to consider an industrial electricity tariff for the telecom sector, which would facilitate the expansion of telecom infrastructure into remote areas, thereby enhancing connectivity and service delivery.

Looking ahead, the company is focused on integrating and rebranding the merged telecom entity, as stated by Chief Operating Officer Atif Raza. This strategic move is expected to further bolster the group’s market position and profitability in the competitive telecom landscape.
