PTI Slams PM Shehbaz Over Neglecting KP Development In Relief Package

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa package

PESHAWAR: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai has expressed deep disappointment over Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s failure to announce a comprehensive developmental and financial package for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during his recent official visits and administrative rollouts.

Addressing reporters and party workers, Yousafzai stated that the citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had anticipated substantial federal assistance to overcome mounting fiscal challenges, infrastructure deficits, and security burdens. The senior PTI stalwart lamented that despite bearing the frontline brunt of counter-terrorism operations and hosting extensive displaced populations over decades, the northwestern province continues to face persistent neglect from the federal administration in Islamabad.

The controversy underscores the lingering frictions between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition government at the Center and the PTI-led provincial administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Yousafzai highlighted that the province’s constitutionally mandated shares under the National Finance Commission (NFC) award and merged tribal district development funds remain heavily constrained, exacerbating fiscal strain on essential public services, healthcare, and education across the province.

The provincial leadership has reiterated its demand for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to revisit federal budgetary allocations and immediately release pending financial disbursements to ensure parity among federating units. With political polarization continuing to shape governance dynamics, provincial lawmakers have signaled plans to raise the issue forcefully across parliamentary forums in the coming legislative sessions.
