Punjab Cabinet Greenlights Recruitment of Intelligence Operators for Special Branch

LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet has officially approved the recruitment of intelligence operators in BS-7 for the Special Branch, albeit with a reduced number of positions. Initially proposing 113 posts, the Revenue Department has recommended hiring only 61 operators due to budgetary constraints.

The decision, influenced by financial limitations, highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the provincial government in managing resources effectively. Officials from the Revenue Department cited the significant expenditure involved in the recruitment process as a primary reason for the reduction in the number of posts.

This recruitment is crucial for enhancing the operational capabilities of the Special Branch, which plays a vital role in maintaining law and order in the province. The move is expected to bolster intelligence gathering and improve response times to security threats, thereby contributing to public safety.

Looking ahead, the Punjab government is set to finalize the recruitment process in the coming weeks. Further discussions are anticipated regarding budget allocations to ensure that the Special Branch can operate effectively with the newly appointed intelligence operators.
