Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Orders Completion of 5,734 Water Filtration Plants by 2027
LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has mandated the completion of 5,734 water filtration plants across Punjab by June 2027, emphasizing that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right for every citizen.
During a meeting of the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority, CM Nawaz assigned assistant commissioners the task of monitoring these filtration plants. To enhance oversight, public committees will be formed under the supervision of the assistant commissioners, ensuring community involvement in maintaining water quality.
This initiative is expected to significantly improve public health and quality of life in Punjab, particularly in underserved areas. The establishment of mobile maintenance units in every tehsil will facilitate timely repairs, ensuring that citizens have uninterrupted access to clean drinking water.
Additionally, the chief minister approved the Last-Mile Water Supply Project targeting the most affected regions, including Chakwal, Rajanpur, and Rawalpindi. Water supply schemes covering 256 kilometers in Chakwal and 1,780 kilometers in Rajanpur will be prioritized, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing water scarcity.
