Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Removes Jhang DC Over Misuse of Official Vehicle
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the immediate removal of Jhang Deputy Commissioner Babar Sahib Din on Sunday due to the inappropriate use of an official vehicle from the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (Pera) during a recent jeep rally. This decision follows the emergence of a video on social media showing the vehicle participating in the event, which the Chief Minister deemed a serious breach of administrative discipline.
The three-day Jhang Thal Jeep Rally, which concluded last week, was organized in collaboration with private sponsors and reportedly received positive feedback from provincial government officials, according to Jhang District Information Officer Riaz Marth. However, the Chief Minister emphasized that deploying regulatory authority resources for non-official purposes violates established policies.
Maryam Nawaz stated on X, “The deployment of a regulatory authority’s resources for non-serious purposes, beyond its officially prescribed mandate, constitutes a serious breach of administrative discipline and a violation of established policy.” This incident raises concerns about the accountability of public officials and the proper use of government resources, highlighting the need for stricter oversight in administrative practices.
In light of this incident, further investigations may be initiated to ensure compliance with governmental regulations. The Punjab government is expected to reinforce guidelines regarding the use of official vehicles to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
