Punjab Forms Search Committee for Forensic Science Authority Director
LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has established a five-member search committee tasked with appointing the Director General of the Punjab Forensic Science Authority (PFSA). This decision follows the Provincial Cabinet’s approval on October 11, 2026, under Section 7(1) of the Punjab Forensic Science Authority Act, 2025.
According to a spokesperson from the home department, the committee will be chaired by the Chairman of the Planning and Development Board. The committee includes vice chancellors from Government College University and Information Technology University, along with Dr Muhammad Omar Masood, Secretary of the Industries, Commerce and Investment Department, and the Director General of the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA). The committee’s responsibilities include scrutinizing applications for the director general position, shortlisting candidates, and conducting interviews.
This initiative is significant as it aims to enhance the operational efficiency and credibility of forensic science services in Punjab, which are crucial for law enforcement and judicial processes. The PFSA plays a vital role in criminal investigations, and appointing a qualified leader is essential for maintaining public trust in the justice system.
Moving forward, the search committee is expected to commence its work promptly, with timelines for candidate interviews and final recommendations likely to be announced in the coming weeks. This development is closely watched by legal experts and the public, who are eager for improvements in forensic capabilities.
