Punjab Increases Traffic Fines to Enhance Road Safety on Ring Road
LAHORE: In a bid to bolster road safety, the Punjab government has announced a significant increase in traffic fines on the Lahore Ring Road. Under the directives of Safiullah Gondal, Chairperson of the Punjab Ring Road Authority, the new regulations aim to enforce stricter adherence to traffic laws.
The revised fines include a drastic rise for driving without a license, which has surged from 500 to 5,000 Pakistani Rupees. This move is part of the broader ‘Safe Roads and Safe Punjab’ vision, which seeks to reduce traffic violations and enhance public safety on the roads.
This increase in fines is expected to have a substantial impact on driving behavior across the province. Officials believe that the heightened penalties will deter reckless driving and encourage compliance with traffic laws, ultimately leading to safer roads for all citizens.
Moving forward, the Punjab government plans to implement a comprehensive awareness campaign to educate drivers about the new regulations and the importance of road safety. Further meetings are scheduled to discuss additional measures that may be introduced to improve traffic management in the region.
