Punjab Introduces Digital Marking System for Board Exams to Enhance Efficiency
LAHORE: Punjab’s education boards are set to revolutionize the examination process by launching a digital marking system for board exams, transitioning from traditional paper-based evaluations to a more efficient on-screen assessment method. This initiative aims to streamline the grading process and enhance the accuracy of evaluations.
The proposed system will involve scanning answer scripts, which will then be securely assigned to authorized examiners through an online platform. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has instructed the education boards to implement this system in phases, starting with the upcoming examination cycle, to ensure a smooth transition.
This move is expected to significantly reduce the time taken for marking exams, thereby expediting the announcement of results. It also aligns with global trends in education technology, promoting a more modern and efficient approach to student assessments. The digital marking system is anticipated to improve transparency and reduce the potential for errors associated with manual grading.
As the education boards prepare for this transition, further meetings are scheduled to finalize the implementation details and address any logistical challenges. Stakeholders, including teachers and examiners, will be trained on the new system to ensure its effective rollout.
