Punjab Safe Cities Initiative Aids in Solving Murder Case in Lahore
LAHORE: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s (PSCA) innovative initiative, Meri Pehchan, has successfully led to the resolution of a murder case involving a man whose body was discovered in a field within the Manawan police jurisdiction on Tuesday.
Authorities were alerted to the presence of the unclaimed body via a call to the police helpline 15. This incident marks one of the 5,000 unidentified bodies that the Meri Pehchan initiative has successfully identified using advanced biometric technology. A PSCA spokesperson emphasized that the primary aim of this initiative is to locate missing and vulnerable individuals across Punjab through the use of biometric verification.
Following the call to the helpline, a dedicated team promptly arrived at the scene and initiated the identification process through biometric fingerprint analysis. The deceased was identified as Robin Masih, which provided crucial information to the investigation team. Preliminary findings suggest that Robin was allegedly murdered in an act of ‘honour,’ leading to the arrest of a suspect and the registration of a case. The body will be returned to the victim’s family after all legal procedures are completed.
This development underscores the effectiveness of the PSCA’s initiatives in enhancing public safety and aiding law enforcement in resolving serious crimes. As the investigation progresses, further details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the murder and the actions taken by the authorities.
