Punjab Sees Record Surge in Driving Licence Issuance with 34% Increase

LAHORE: Punjab has achieved a historic milestone in driving licence issuance, recording a remarkable 34 percent increase last month. Over 856,000 citizens across the province utilized licensing services, marking the highest number ever documented.

In Lahore alone, more than 139,000 individuals were issued driving licences. The surge included over 441,000 learner’s licences and more than 200,000 regular driving licences. Additionally, over 217,000 citizens renewed their existing licences, reflecting a growing trend in road safety and compliance.

This unprecedented rise in driving licence issuance not only signifies an increase in vehicle ownership but also highlights the provincial government’s efforts to streamline licensing processes and enhance road safety measures. Officials attribute this growth to improved public awareness campaigns and the accessibility of licensing services.

Looking ahead, the Punjab government plans to further enhance these services by introducing online applications and expanding licensing centres to accommodate the rising demand. This initiative aims to ensure that more citizens can obtain their driving licences efficiently and safely.
