Rawalpindi Education Authority Takes Action Against Teachers for Poor Exam Results
RAWALPINDI: The District Education Authority Rawalpindi has initiated disciplinary action against 160 headmasters and 404 teachers following alarming results from the 9th grade annual examinations, where a staggering 63% of students failed.
In a bid to address the poor performance, the authority issued show-cause notices to educators at 160 schools where the pass percentage fell below 20%. Out of 124,430 candidates who registered, only 121,739 appeared for the exams, with just 45,724 achieving success, resulting in an overall pass rate of 37.56%.
Yaseen Khan Baloch, Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that personal hearings for the implicated headmasters and teachers will take place, with final decisions regarding potential terminations expected by October 20. He noted that the district administration has mandated the completion of the 9th and 10th-grade syllabus without interruption.
This action reflects ongoing concerns about educational standards in the region and highlights the urgent need for reforms to enhance student performance. As the authority moves forward, the implications of these results may prompt further scrutiny of educational policies and practices in Rawalpindi.
