Rawalpindi Man Arrested for Alleged Scam Involving Malaysia Work Visas
RAWALPINDI: A man has been arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for allegedly defrauding a citizen of Rs545,000 with false promises of securing a work visa for Malaysia. The suspect, identified as Muhammad Yaqoob, was apprehended by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Rawalpindi in connection with FIR No. 83/2026.
The FIA spokesperson confirmed the arrest, stating that Yaqoob had been under investigation for some time following complaints from victims who were misled into believing they would receive legitimate work opportunities in Malaysia. The agency has intensified its efforts to combat human trafficking and visa fraud, which have become increasingly prevalent.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of fraudulent visa schemes that exploit the aspirations of individuals seeking better employment opportunities abroad. Such scams not only lead to financial losses for victims but also tarnish the reputation of legitimate recruitment processes.
Authorities are expected to continue their investigation into Yaqoob’s operations, with potential for further arrests as they uncover more details about his network. The FIA urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to visa applications.
