Saudi Arabia minimum wage

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced an increase in the minimum wage to 6,000 riyals as part of its Nitaqat program, which aims to enhance employment opportunities for Saudi nationals. This decision encompasses five categories of workers, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolster its labor market.

Dr. Abdullah Abu Thnein, Deputy Minister for Labor Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, confirmed that the new wage structure is designed to ensure fair compensation for Saudi employees. The Nitaqat program, which promotes the employment of Saudi citizens in various sectors, is a cornerstone of the country’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at reducing reliance on foreign labor.

This wage increase is expected to have significant implications for the Saudi economy, potentially improving the standard of living for many citizens and encouraging more Saudis to enter the workforce. By raising the minimum wage, the government hopes to stimulate economic growth and reduce unemployment rates among nationals.

Looking ahead, the Ministry plans to monitor the implementation of this wage increase closely and assess its impact on the labor market. Further discussions and adjustments may follow based on feedback from employers and employees alike.
