SAZEW Reports 12% Drop in SUV Sales Amid Surge in Three-Wheeler Demand

KARACHI: Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) has reported a significant shift in its sales dynamics for the first quarter of FY27, with SUV sales declining by 12% year-on-year, totaling 3,137 units. In contrast, the demand for three-wheelers surged by an impressive 45%, reaching 7,735 units sold during the same period.

This notable increase in three-wheeler sales has effectively mitigated the impact of the declining SUV market, resulting in a combined sales volume increase of approximately 22% year-on-year for the company. Analysts attribute this shift to changing consumer preferences and economic factors influencing purchasing decisions.

The rise in three-wheeler sales is particularly significant as it reflects a broader trend in the automotive sector, where affordability and utility are becoming paramount for consumers. This shift could have implications for the overall automotive market in Pakistan, potentially leading to increased competition among manufacturers and a reevaluation of product offerings.

Looking ahead, SAZEW is expected to adapt its strategies to capitalize on the growing three-wheeler segment while addressing the challenges faced in the SUV market. Industry experts will be closely monitoring these developments as they unfold in the coming quarters.
