Seven Terrorists Killed in North Waziristan Intelligence-Based Operation
PESHAWAR: Security forces successfully eliminated seven highly active terrorists during a high-stakes intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Eidak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s volatile North Waziristan district, state media reported on Friday. The targeted operation successfully dismantled a key operational cell of the banned outfit Fitna al Khawarij, a term officially designated by the Pakistani government to refer to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
According to state broadcaster Radio Pakistan, military personnel pursued the terrorists with exceptional determination and tactical combat skills, destroying their heavily fortified hideouts and recovering a significant cache of weapons and explosives. Following the successful operation, President Asif Ali Zardari issued an official statement lauding the bravery and professionalism of the security forces, emphasizing that the nation remains united in its resolve to purge the country of the menace of terrorism.
This latest clash occurs against the backdrop of a sharp escalation in militant attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which have increasingly targeted security checkpoints and law enforcement personnel. The state’s adoption of the theological term Fitna al Khawarij represents a deliberate ideological counter-offensive, aiming to strip the militant group of any religious legitimacy while the military intensifies kinetic operations along the porous Pak-Afghan border.
Following the shootout, security forces launched a comprehensive search and sanitization operation in the surrounding areas of Eidak to eliminate any remaining facilitators or hidden threats. Intelligence agencies have also heightened surveillance across the tribal belt to preempt potential retaliatory strikes and maintain law and order in the region.
