Sindh Chief Minister Promotes Investment Opportunities at Shanghai Conference

SHANGHAI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has actively encouraged Chinese investment in the province, emphasizing its strategic location, robust sea and air connectivity, competitive labor costs, and a skilled workforce. Speaking at the second Sindh Investment Conference, which took place in Shanghai after a 12-year hiatus, Mr. Shah expressed optimism that this event would herald a new era of Chinese investment, job creation, and industrial modernization in Sindh.

During his address, Mr. Shah highlighted the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone as a premier opportunity for Chinese and other international investors looking for a cost-effective base for manufacturing and export-oriented businesses. The proposed industrial clusters at Dhabeji are set to encompass various sectors, including automotive and auto parts, light engineering, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, steel and foundries, warehousing, construction materials, textiles, and garments.

The conference attracted around 400 delegates, including investors, business leaders, and representatives from Chinese companies and financial institutions. Notably, 34 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the day-long event, marking a significant step towards enhancing economic collaboration between Sindh and China.

Looking ahead, the Sindh government plans to facilitate further discussions and meetings with potential investors to solidify partnerships and explore additional investment avenues. This renewed focus on attracting foreign investment is expected to bolster Sindh’s economy and create numerous job opportunities for its residents.
