SSGC Explains Surge in Gas Bills Amid Cold Weather in Quetta
KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has clarified the reasons behind the recent increase in gas bills for consumers in Quetta, attributing the rise to the onset of colder weather and higher gas consumption.
In a statement released on November 1, 2026, an SSGC spokesperson explained that the increase in bills is a direct result of the seasonal demand surge, which aligns with the tariffs set by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The company emphasized that the colder temperatures have led to a significant uptick in gas usage among households, thereby impacting billing.
This development raises concerns for residents, as many may struggle to manage the higher costs during the winter months. The increase in utility bills could strain household budgets, particularly for low-income families who rely heavily on gas for heating and cooking.
Looking ahead, SSGC has indicated that it will continue to monitor gas consumption patterns and may engage with OGRA to discuss potential adjustments to tariffs. Consumers are advised to manage their gas usage efficiently to mitigate the impact of rising costs.
