Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan Drop by 37% in October, Reports PICSS

terrorist attacks decline

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported a significant decline in terrorist attacks, with a 37% drop in October compared to September, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The country recorded 143 terrorist incidents last month, a notable decrease from 226 in September, indicating a reversal of the rising trend in violence observed over the previous two months.

The data highlights a marked improvement in security, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the number of suicide attacks also saw a substantial reduction. However, the report raises alarms over a rise in kidnappings, especially in Balochistan, which remains a critical concern for authorities and citizens alike.

In terms of casualties, October witnessed 111 fatalities due to terrorist activities, a stark contrast to the 260 deaths reported in September, reflecting a 57% reduction. Injuries also plummeted from 242 to just 69, representing a dramatic 71% decline. This improvement in security metrics is crucial for the stability and safety of the nation, potentially impacting public confidence and economic activities.

Looking ahead, security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to address the ongoing issue of kidnappings while maintaining the momentum against terrorist activities. Continued monitoring and strategic interventions will be essential to sustain this positive trend and ensure the safety of citizens across the country.
