Thierno Barry Shines with Brace as Everton Defeats Coventry 3-1
LIVERPOOL: Thierno Barry continued his impressive form with a stunning double as Everton secured a 3-1 victory over Coventry City on Friday, propelling the team to fifth place in the Premier League.
After falling behind to Yann Gboho’s goal early in the second half at Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton rallied thanks to Barry’s remarkable performance, scoring twice within five minutes to turn the match around. Manager David Moyes had previously suggested that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland should be concerned about Barry’s rising prowess as a striker, and the 24-year-old has certainly lived up to that hype, now boasting 10 goals this season, surpassing his total from the previous campaign.
Barry’s resurgence is a welcome turnaround from a challenging first season with Everton following his transfer from Villarreal. With six goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions, he is quickly becoming a key player for the club. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added a third goal in the closing minutes, sealing Everton’s third consecutive victory.
This match also marked a significant milestone for Moyes, who equaled Harry Catterick’s record of 592 games as Everton manager, highlighting his long-standing commitment to the club.
