Saudi Arabia Deports 8,875 Illegal Immigrants Amid Crackdown on Violations

RIYADH: In a significant enforcement action, Saudi Arabia has deported 8,875 illegal immigrants over the past week as part of a broader crackdown on violations of residency, labor, and border laws. This operation, which took place from October 22 to 28, 2023, also resulted in the arrest of 13,357 individuals for various infractions.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the government is intensifying its efforts to regulate the labor market and ensure compliance with immigration laws. Officials have stated that these measures are crucial for maintaining order and protecting the rights of legal workers in the kingdom.

This crackdown highlights the ongoing challenges faced by foreign workers in Saudi Arabia, many of whom come seeking better economic opportunities. The mass deportations may have significant implications for the labor market, particularly in sectors heavily reliant on expatriate workers.
