NCCIA Launches Units to Combat Fake News and Online Propaganda in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has established special units dedicated to countering anti-state propaganda and fake news. This initiative, announced on Sunday, aims to enhance cybersecurity measures across the nation by implementing cyber patrolling units in all regions.

During a comprehensive five-day tour, NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi reviewed the agency’s new measures. The establishment of these units reflects the government’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of information and combating misinformation that threatens national security.

The implications of this initiative are significant for Pakistani citizens, as it seeks to create a safer online environment. By monitoring cyberspace for false narratives and propaganda, the NCCIA aims to protect the public from misleading information that could influence public opinion and disrupt social harmony.

Looking ahead, the NCCIA plans to conduct regular assessments of the effectiveness of these units and may expand their operations based on emerging threats. The agency is also expected to collaborate with other governmental and non-governmental organizations to enhance its capabilities in tackling cybercrime.
