AJK Election Commission Enforces Restrictions in Poonch and Sudhnoti Constituencies

AJK Election Commission restrictions

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has imposed significant restrictions on government activities in seven constituencies of Poonch and Sudhnoti districts, where general elections were postponed due to concerns over law and order.

The measures, aimed at preventing the misuse of state resources and ensuring fair competition among candidates, will remain in effect until the electoral process in these areas is concluded. This decision was made during a meeting led by Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal on Thursday, following complaints from local political leaders regarding potential irregularities during the election postponement.

Under the new orders, all government employee appointments and transfers, as well as the creation of new posts, are prohibited in the affected constituencies. Any necessary appointments or transfers will require prior approval from the Election Commission, reinforcing the commitment to uphold electoral integrity.

This move is expected to foster a more equitable political environment for candidates and voters alike, as it seeks to eliminate any unfair advantages that could arise from the misuse of public funds. As the situation develops, the Election Commission is likely to monitor compliance closely and may implement further measures to ensure a transparent electoral process.
