Bilawal Calls on Opposition Leader to Utilize Authority in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged National Assembly Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai on Thursday to leverage the authority granted to him by imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan. Bilawal emphasized the need for opposition members to actively engage in House committees and address critical national issues during a session chaired by Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa.

During his address, Bilawal underscored the importance of a robust parliament, advocating for collective decision-making on matters of national interest. He stated, “If parliament is powerful, we are all powerful; this is the power bestowed on us by the people of Pakistan.” His remarks were aimed at encouraging a more proactive role from the opposition in legislative processes.

Bilawal also called on the speaker and the government to fulfill their responsibilities, criticizing the opposition for contributing to the dysfunctionality of the House. “Those who want this House to remain dysfunctional and do not want the people of Pakistan to benefit from it have succeeded,” he remarked, directing his comments towards the opposition benches.

Looking ahead, the PPP chairman’s call to action may set the stage for increased collaboration among political factions in upcoming parliamentary sessions. The effectiveness of this appeal remains to be seen as the political landscape continues to evolve.
