Faisalabad Citizen Shot Dead by Thieves While Resisting Car Theft
FAISALABAD: A vehicle owner was shot dead on Wednesday after armed thieves opened fire while fleeing with his stolen car from a commercial parking lot in Faisalabad, police officials confirmed.
According to preliminary police reports, the incident unfolded when the suspects managed to unlock and drive away the parked automobile. Upon noticing the theft in progress, the vehicle owner attempted to intercept the fleeing suspects and raised an alarm. In response, the unidentified armed culprits opened indiscriminate fire on the owner before speeding away from the scene. The victim suffered fatal bullet wounds and succumbed to his injuries before emergency medical personnel could transport him to a nearby medical facility.
The brazen broad-daylight incident has sparked outrage among local trade bodies and residents, who have expressed severe alarm over the surge in armed vehicle snatchings and street crime across urban centers in Punjab. Civic representatives pointed out that commercial parking areas continue to lack adequate security surveillance, guard patrols, and functional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, leaving citizens vulnerable to violent criminal gangs operating with impunity.
Faisalabad district police have cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive manhunt to track down the assailants. Forensics teams have gathered spent bullet casings and physical evidence from the crime scene, while investigators are actively reviewing security footage from adjacent buildings and highway exits to identify the getaway vehicle’s route. Authorities affirmed that a formal case has been registered and specialized crime-investigation units are pursuing actionable leads to apprehend the culprits.
